In particular:

"Our children were never anywhere but in the world." So true. We continually hear the incredulous voices of people who can't quite believe it works. My youngest, at 13 is still seeking his passion, but my 16 year old has found his, creating a website that is - a year and a half later - almost half a million hits strong. It's out our back gate and up the alley. The checker said, "You're Marty's mom, aren't you? I was *just* thinking about Marty and wondering how he's doing."

So I told her about his girlfriend, his Jeep, his job, and she told me how fondly she thinks of him. It's been over a year since Marty quit that job, and I'm still getting a cut of his glory!

Thank you, Jennifer, for sharing this. If people want to see other images of the boys, they're at SandraDodd.com/Kirby and SandraDodd.com/Marty. Kirby will be speaking at the HENA conference in Tempe, Arizona, on March 7. We're certainly not trying to get him a job yet, but just by his being out and about and being who he is, a lot of people know him already and recognize his talents, which include being self-motivated, outgoing, responsible and able to talk to people of all ages. Also, self-confident, as in he knows who he is and what he's interested in. Those things will allow him to make his way in the world far more than anything we can teach him.Jennifer Finkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10568576650343979230noreply@blogger.com
