Full disclosure: He's reading the book, but he hasn't read the *whole* book. He loves the cartoon drawing and captions and was flipping through and reading them. For him, though, this is HUGE progress. This was the first time I'd ever seen him pick up a book and read, of his own accord. AND IT HAPPENED TWO MORNINGS IN A ROW!
That's awesome!! I'm quite a fan of Wimpy Kid, too (as is my three year old daughter, but I'm doing the reading in both cases). I can totally get how Wimpy Kid would be a great motivator for reading!!
Glad to see you're back and your son is reading; something I could not get my boys to do.
ReplyDeleteAnd I see its almost at the end! Yeah T!
ReplyDeleteThanks for giving me some hope, I am still waiting for that day. It must make your heart soar!
ReplyDeleteMy kids devoured all of those books--couldn't read them fast enough, one right after the other. Cheers for books that make them want to read!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he enjoyed reading the book! 2 of mine didn't read till about 5th grade.
